This historical drama set in occupied Paris in 1941and directed by Fred Cavayé is based on an award-winning play. Starring Daniel Auteuil as Mr Haffmann, the film chronicles how a Jewish jeweler, after an edict that orders all Jews to identify themselves, hands his family business to his assistant after securing his own family’s escape from Paris. When his own escape plan fails he is forced to hide in the cellar of the family home, now occupied by his assistant and his wife. The film received 4 stars from David Stratton and most critics agreed, calling it ‘gripping from start to finish’        . The film won the Audience Prize for Best Film at the Sarlat Film Festival.
