The Metropolitan Opera presents a new instalment in its series of abridged opera adaptations for family audiences – a 90 minute English version of Massenet’s Cendrillon.

As Cinderella dreams of going to the ball, her Fairy Godmother appears and conjures up a coach, horses, a beautiful gown and glass slippers. She tells Cinderella that she can go to the ball, but she must leave before midnight...

Laurent Pelly’s storybook staging of Massenet’s Cendrillon, a hit of the 2017–18 Met season, is presented with an all-new English translation by Kelley Rourke in an abridged 90 minutes, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as its rags-to-riches princess.

Maestro Emmanuel Villaume leads a delightful cast, which includes mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Cinderella’s Prince Charming, soprano Jessica Pratt as her Fairy Godmother, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri as her feuding guardians.

Cinderella is sung in English with English subtitles.

A screening of the broadcast from the Metropolitan Opera 2021-22 Season in New York.
